Welcoming the New Year with PerfectBee

As we begin a new year, we’re excited to reconnect with our beekeeping community and share the insights, updates, and educational resources you’ve come to expect from PerfectBee. We truly appreciate your patience over the past few months and are looking forward to consistent communication in the year ahead.

PerfectBee Guides

To kick off the year, we’re featuring our PerfectBee Guide to Overwintering Honey Bees — an essential resource even as we move deeper into the winter beekeeping season.

There’s still plenty to learn and apply as colonies conserve energy, shift population dynamics, and prepare for early spring buildup. Whether you’re monitoring hive health on mild days, planning late-winter feeding strategies, or getting ready for that first warm inspection, this guide offers insights that will carry you — and your bees — smoothly from winter into spring success.

Beyond winter, our growing collection of PerfectBee Guides offers helpful information such as the PerfectBee Guide to Harvesting Honey and the PerfectBee Guide to Varroa Mites.

We also have the following product guides available:

We’re continually working on new guides to expand our library and bring even more learning opportunities to you soon.

Staying informed is one of the best ways to protect your hives. In our latest article, New Threats to U.S. Beekeeping: Yellow-Legged Hornet and Tropilaelaps Mite, we explore two emerging threats that every beekeeper should know about — including what’s being done to monitor and prevent their spread.

Beekeeper Stories: Ana’s Path to Beekeeping

We’re excited to feature a special multi-part addition to our Beekeeper Stories series — a look into the life of Ana, one of our PerfectBee team members.

In Ana’s ongoing series she offers a personal and inspiring look at how life experiences can lead us toward the fascinating world of beekeeping.

Seasonally Smart Beekeeping Tip: Fondant Feeding for Late Winter

As we move deeper into winter, colony nutrition becomes increasingly important. Natural stores can run low before spring nectar flow arrives, making late-winter feeding a key step in helping your bees maintain strength through the final stretch of the cold season.

Fondant feeding provides a steady, reliable source of carbohydrates without overstimulating brood production. It’s ideal for this time of year when temperatures remain low and liquid feed isn’t practical. Simply place a patty above the cluster — either directly on the frames or on top of the inner cover — so your bees can access it easily during colder days.

Strategic fondant feeding helps ensure your colonies have the energy reserves they need to survive winter and thrive in early spring, setting the stage for a productive beekeeping season ahead.

The PerfectBee Store is here for all your beekeeping supply needs, including fondant, feeders, protective gear, and more — everything you need to keep your colonies healthy and well cared for year-round.

Colony Membership Update

We’re making a change to our Colony Membership, to better fit the needs of our community. Colony will now be available through monthly or quarterly plans. The new Quarterly Colony Membership at just $24 provides the same savings that our former annual plan offered — just billed every three months instead of once per year.

If you currently have an Annual Colony membership, it will not automatically renew or convert to the new quarterly plan. When your annual term ends, just simply need to sign up for a Quarterly Colony Membership to continue enjoying uninterrupted access to all your Colony benefits.

Coming Soon

We also have exciting updates coming soon to PerfectBee that we can’t wait to share — so keep an eye on our website and your inbox for more news!
