Beeswax Block
$10.95 – $223.60
Beeswax has been a prized for thousands of years and used in many products, including candles, cosmetics, lubricants for black powder shooting, duck hunting decoys and much more.Natural beeswax varies in color due to nectar source, age of the wax, and among many other factors.
One pound of wax makes roughly six 12” candles.
Beeswax is primarily made of esters of fatty acids and is insoluble in water when solid. It has a specific gravity that allows it to it to float on water.
By a melting in a vat of water one can ‘render’ the wax, separating it from the other substances embedded in the wax (which will sink to the bottom). The remnants of this process is referred to as slum gum. Once rendered, one can further separate the wax by filtering through various grades of filter cloth. This leaves a beautiful colored wax, ready to pour into shaping blocks and to cool.
There is no residue at the bottom of any of our wax.
Whitened vs. Cleaned Beeswax
White beeswax is pure, unbleached beeswax that has been pressure-filtered for a beautiful ivory color and a sweet beeswax scent. Whitened beeswax is ideal project where one desires a light color end product or if you want to add colorants. Our whitened beeswax contains NO BLEACH.
Cleaned yellow beeswax has been heated and debris filtered out. It varies in color from light yellow to orange yellow. Cleaned beeswax is ideal for candle making or projects where you desire the natural beeswax color to shine.
Note: Beeswax is a natural product and densities may vary, therefore weights are approximate.
